(These two pictures were taken by Son of the Maker. His camera is a good bit better than mine and he caught these two roughhousing right after I went inside.)
I checked out the window at the perfect time this evening to catch the foxes out of their den. As I watched the first litter, I realized the mother was out with THREE kits (I thought she only had two!).
Then in the next instant, I realized the second litter was also out. Another mother who ALSO had three kits. I was looking at a total of EIGHT foxes in the field all at the same time!
It was crazy scanning back and forth between the two litters. I was so excited that I took a step stool to the back yard fence so I could take some slightly better pictures.
I am thinking a better camera HAS to be in my future! After a while, the mothers left, I assume to go hunting.
Both litters remained outside their dens for the most part, and then to my surprise, a kit or two from one litter would occasionally visit the kits in the other litter.
I have several pictures of five kits all together! There are so many pictures in today’s post, but I took over 300 in just a half hour of watching them play.
At one point, one little kit heard my camera clicking and intently watched me for about ten minutes before turning his attention away.
One of his litter mates even joined him for a bit. They did not appear frightened at all, but very curious.
I love your updates on these guys as much as the free designs. They are soooo much fun to see. Your son takes nice photos, too! I only have squirrels in my backyard. Wanna trade?
I love your updates on the fox families and check everyday to see what they’re up to! Thanks so much for keeping us up to date and thank you (as always) for your generous freebies!

I have a squirrel in my front yard – Henrietta. I’ve been feeding her almonds for about three years now. 🙂
