Today I was on a mission… to create a hoodie that would fit easily of Kai’s head! His head is currently in the 95th percentile which can make it difficult to get shirts on! I started with my favorite Mega Max Raglan by Max & Meena. All I did was scoop the front cut of the shirt a little lower.  It worked great!  Next time I will also either elongate the hood or perhaps just print a size up on the hood so it is also a little wider just so it fits the opening a bit better. Sadly, I didn’t get the center seam on the hood lined up exactly with the hood band and didn’t realize until I was finished sewing! It isn’t really noticeable when he’s wearing it, but it sure bugs me!

For the pants, I slightly modified Brindille & Twig‘s cuff waist harem pants.  I simply cut them a little shorter to make them shorts length and left off the leg cuffs. These are pretty roomy on Kai and should fit for the rest of the summer.  This is such an easy sew, particularly as shorts. Three seams (sides and crotch) and a waistband! It doesn’t get much easier than that! I like that they’re nice and roomy for these above 100 degree days we’ve been having this week, also!

Both the Chewie panel and the wookie “fur” and wookie coordinate are from The Fabric Geeks located in Nova Scotia.  These have been in my stash for quite awhile as I originally sewed Sarah a tank top and had held onto my scraps!

  1. Chewie is my favorite! I was so excited to meet him at Disney World! Love the outfit-it’s so cute! You are very talented and make me want to work on my sewing with my regular sewing machine-especially since we are in the beginning processes of adoption!!
