First Fourth of July for Kai

Happy 4th of July!

I decided last night that Kai needed a new little outfit for his first 4th of July.  Luckily, Son of the Maker agreed to add heat press vinyl to a purchased onesie that I already had on hand, leaving me with just the little shorts to make for a very quick and easy outfit!

For my fabric choices I chose a red and white stripe cotton lycra and a white and blue star bamboo/lycra. I was very curious as to how they would work together given the different weights, but they sewed up easily and worked great! Both fabrics were from TKB Prints.

I used the Foldover Pocket Pants Pattern from Brindille & Twig to sew the shorts. I cut one leg and band from the stars and one leg and band from the stripes (being careful to mirror my pattern!) and flipped the stripes 90 degrees for the cuff on that leg.

Son of the Maker applied the heat press vinyl for me, using a free SVG cut file I found from Cutting For Business. Usually Son of the Maker creates the cut files himself, but given the short deadline, he was happy that I found a file for him already designed! Thank you, Cutting For Business!
